All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced the postponement of its planned Membership Registration, Update and Revalidation Exercise earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday, December 12, 2020.
This announcement came barely 48 hours after the emergency National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party where the former acting national chairman of the party, Hilliard Eta, was expelled for challenging the dissolution of the immediate past National Working Committee, NWC, by the National Executive Council, NEC, in the courts against party directives.
The NEC at its emergency meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja also approved a 6-month tenure extension for the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to stair the affairs of the party.
Addressing journalists  Thursday at the national secretariat of the party,  Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, said the decision to shift the date of the Exercise to the second week of January 2021 was premised on account of several factors including the fast-approaching Christmas and End of Year celebrations; as well as the interest of the Christian members; and the objective of ensuring maximum participation.

The Buni-led committee had earlier in November got the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to proceed with the exercise despite stiff opposition to the idea by some concerned members of the party who saw it as a move to illegally extend the tenure of the committee beyond its initial six months.
