After Arsenal’s defeat of Rapid Wien in a Europa League encounter in which fans were allowed to enter the stadium for the first time since March.
One Arsenal fan who was at the stands took the opportunity to urge the Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta to restore German midfielder Mesut Ozil to the first team.
Despite being the club’s highest earner this season, Mesut Ozil has not played any game for the North London side since March this year.
There have been reports that the former Real Madrid star is planning to leave the Emirates stadium so as for him to get regular playing time elsewhere.
Before the final whistle of the match between Arsenal and Rapid was blown, a fan was spotted raising up a banner urging Arteta to bring back Ozil to the team.
David Seamen who was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League when he was with Arsenal explained that Arteta is allowing Ozil’s talent to waste according to Daily Mail.
”I am surprised Arteta is choosing to leave out Mezut Ozil because he’s a player of quality. ”I feel something’s gone on personally between the two of them because to leave him out, and on the money, he’s on is a big statement and for me, it’s a bit of a waste, because he’s still a quality player.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal is currently occupying 14th position on the Premier League table with 13 points after 10 games played this term.
The Gunners, as they are popularly called, have not been impressive this term in the Premier League and Manager Mikel Arteta is currently under serious pressure.
The last term, Mikel Arteta was also under heavy criticism, but the Spaniard and his wards redeemed themselves by winning the English FA Cup which gave them the Europa League ticket.
The arrival of Thomas Partey this term at the Emirates stadium has not made any significant changes in the Gunners’ team and there have been calls for the squad to be bolstered next year.
