The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), said that the Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor and the Service Chiefs have stormed Zamfara State as part of an effort to crumble the evil empire of bandits’ and other criminal elements operating in the zone.
Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said this in a statement in Abuja.
He noted that the CDS sized the opportunity of the visit to task the troops to be vigilant and sustain the aggressive posture of the ongoing anti banditry operation.
The statement reads: “The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Lucky Irabor, accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao on Tuesday 9 March 2021 paid a maiden Operational visit to the Force Headquarters, Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) in Gusau, Zamfara State.
“During the visit, the CDS and  Service Chiefs were briefed on troops’ operational engagements and activities by the Force Commander OPHD, Major General Aminu Bande.
“Addressing the troops in the Theatre, the CDS commended them for their resilience and doggedness in the fight against bandits and other subversive elements in the North West”.
The Defence Spokesperson further disclosed that the CDS and Service Chiefs also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
