Traditional Spokesman of Etche R ‘ Alegbo in the Uvwie Kingdom, Chief Hope Akasa has advised politicians in Uvwie Local Government Area to embrace peace and unity in the forthcoming local government council elections.

Akasa, also known as Unuevworo, who gave the advice in an interaction with journalists at his residence in Effurun recently, explained that the advice was necessitated by the need to sustain the prevailing peace in Uvwie before, during, and after the local government council elections.

“It is fortunate that Uvwie is comprised of one people. So, their (Uvwie politicians) focus should be on the growth of the Uvwie Kingdom.

“No meaningful growth or development can take place in the absence of peace. So, irrespective of their political leaning or inclination, they should join hands with our God sent king in the task of taking Uvwie to a greater height,” he said.

The Uvwie chief, who recalled that Uvwie Local Government Area was adjudged the most peaceful in Delta State in the last local government council elections, advised politicians in the area who could not make it in the forthcoming local government council elections to be patient.

“Three years is not a lifetime, if they cannot make it now, they may make it next time,” he posited.

When asked to assess the performance of the incumbent, Uvwie Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Ramson Onoyake, he stated: “I do not want to be seen as campaigning for Hon Onoyake, but the truth is that, since his emergence as chairman of the council three years ago, we have not witnessed youth restiveness in any part of Uvwie Kingdom.”

Chief Akasa however urged youths of Uvwie Kingdom to always respect constituted authorities, saying that disrespect for constituted authorities was an uncivilized act.
