NASARAWA State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee on COVID-19 yesterday summoned the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who is the Chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19 to appear before it within 24 hours.

The committee also summoned the state Auditor-General, Riyanu Lamus, to also appear before the committee on Tuesday next week.

Chairman of the committee, Abdullahi Angibi, who announced this while briefing journalists at the end of its emergency meeting in Lafia, said the summon was for the affected officials to brief the committee on finances and other activities of the COVID-19 committee.

“You would recall that on August 11, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi inaugurated a six-man ad-hoc committee on COVID-19 to monitor the activities of the State Task Force on COVID-19.

“COVID-19 cases are still on, not only in Nasarawa State and Nigeria but in the whole world. So, it is in view of this that we are summoning the chairman to appear before this committee on Thursday, December 3 to furnish us with its activities and finances.

“We are also inviting the state auditor-general to appear before this committee on Tuesday, December 8 to brief it on the COVID-19 expenditure,” he said.

He reiterated the commitment of the state legislature towards ensuring that the right things are done for the overall development of the state.
