Following the report of his defection into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, a support group under the umbrella of APC Professionals Forum, APF, has insisted that former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode must apologize to President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the ruling party before he is officially received into the party.

The group made its position known in a statement signed by its National Coordinator Hon. Akeem Akintayo on Wednesday in Abuja, insisting that this became necessary because of the unprintable words Fani-Kayode has used over the years to describe the President and the party.

APF said though it welcomed efforts of the party leadership to woo new members but expressed concerns “over the manner some individuals are being brought into our progressive fold”

The forum said: “We cannot eat from our vomit as a party and continue to recruit known foot soldiers of PDP who don’t share our values and belief in a better and progressive Nigeria which President Buhari represents.

“If the questionable political characters have genuinely repented from their hateful and divisive politics that almost pitched Nigerians against Nigerians during the previous campaigns, we as progressives and founding members of APC urge Chief Femi Fani Kayode who now sees APC as a haven to tender a public apology to President Buhari whom he had publicly ridiculed and insulted in the past, as well as Nigerians his likes have deceived as a result of their unprincipled politics.”

APC Professional Forum also wants the Caretaker National and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to henceforth tread carefully in enticing opposition figures into the party.

“On this note, we must advise the leadership of our great party to exercise caution even as we push for reconciliation of old and new members.

“We must avoid admitting politicians who do not share our values and who are really agents of the division who are desperate to demarket the party against the vision of our founding fathers,” it added.

The group said it would continue to advocate for better management of the party’s affairs and good governance by APC political office holders at all levels
