Enugu State Government has budgeted one hundred and sixty billion, eight hundred and forty-five million, seven hundred and fifty-eight thousand five naira, N169, for the 2012 fiscal year.

Announcing a budget estimate titled, a budget of recovery and continuing growth on the floor of the statehouse of Assembly, Wednesday, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi said he would sustain the overall development of the state

Ugwuanyi said that the 2021 budget size exceeded that of last year by 13 percent.

According to him, the budget estimate has a recurrent expenditure of about 6.711% of the entire budget while recurrent revenue stood at 68.7 billion.

Ugwuanyi said that the capital expenditure is estimated at about 101.1bn which represents 60% of the total budget size.

Ugwuanyi who had earlier ex-rayed achievements made with the 2020 budget said he would ensure that in the near future, “perennial water scarcity in Enugu metropolis and Nsukka will be a thing of the past.”

He said that to make water available and accessible in the two cities, his government has signed an agreement of over N50 million with a company to make sure that water is reticulated to every nook of the state capital.

“This will supply more water in Enugu,” he said, pointing out that the contract has a life span of five years starting from the 2021 fiscal year.

He pointed out that the contract would address the water project scheme at Ajali and Oji respectively.

On supplying water to Nsukka, Ugwuanyi said that Adada Water Scheme would be taken care of  to “ensure all-round water supply to  Nsukka Urban.”

Still talking about water which has been a nagging problem in many communities, Gov. Ugwuanyi said his administration has dug about 20 new boreholes in many communities of the state.

Governor Ugwuanyi promised to construct a flyover at the T. Junction, Nike Road to ease traffic in the area.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Edward Ubosi, while appraisal the budget presented, prayed to God to enable the Governor to accomplish what he appropriated.

Ubosi urged him to develop Nsukka, and he promised in his first tenure and to also extend to other areas as well.

“Anything you can do to develop Nsukka, please do it but as you are doing it, do for others also,” he urged.
