Former Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman has died at a hospital in Zaria, Kaduna State, after a brief illness.
Muhtar who died on Tuesday night aged 63, served for five years as DG of the NCAA, before handing over to the present NCAA boss, Capt. Musa Nuhu, in October 2019.
Confirming his death on Wednesday, Capt. Nuhu disclosed that his burial is expected to hold at Sultan Bello Mosque on Wednesday morning.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. My good friend and brother Captain Muhtar Usman passed on early today. May Almighty Allah (SWT) in His infinite mercies forgive all his imperfections, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and his family the fortitude to bear this loss. Ameen Ya Rabb,” Capt. Nuhu wrote on his Twitter handle.
Born on December 5, 1956, Usman became the director-general of the civil aviation regulatory body in October 2014.
Before his appointment as NCAA DG, Usman was the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, and Managing Director of the defunct Nigeria Airways.
