All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State chapter has called on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to disqualify the All Progressives Congress, APC, from participating in the upcoming Imo North senatorial bye-election over alleged parading of two candidates for the election slated for December 5, 2020.

APGA chairman, Hon. John Iwuala in a statement issued yesterday in Owerri called on the electoral umpire to also disqualify Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Sir Frank Ibezim, the two competing candidates of the rival factions of APC in the state.

He alleged that APC after conducting two separate primary elections under  Dan Nwafor and Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo factions respectively has not done well to put its house in order, even as the date for Imo North bye-election draws closer.

He said, “APC has not stopped to produce two separate candidates for the upcoming by-election. Senator Ifeanyi Ararume conducted his own primary election under the Nwafor faction of the Party; while Ibezim had a separate primary election under the Nlemigbo faction.”

Iwuala stated that Imo APC has continued to be confused and in their desperation to grab power can do anything at all cost saying, “That is why same Senator Ararume who had a separate primary election under Nwafor faction as he rejected Nlemigbo faction, is now parading himself as the candidate of the same primary election he rejected.

“This is very incongruous! That is why Imo politics cannot stop to suffer at the hands of selfish, confused, and desperate political wolves who have no good interest of the people at heart.

“Is Imo APC trying to use the ‘Ben Johnson’ way again to produce a ‘Supreme Court’ Senator?

“We call on INEC to disqualify APC and its two separate candidates at the moment. Can a Party produce two separate Candidates for a particular election (position)?”

The chairman prayed that the good people of Imo North be allowed to freely choose who represents them better at the Senate pointing out that “this is the right time for the good people of Imo North to right the wrongs as there is no better time than now.”

He added, “Okigwe Senatorial Zone needs a better Representative for greater impact and Transformation of Imo North is a sure bet. We, therefore, encourage the good people of Imo North not to go back to Egypt. And we wait for the disqualification of APC for the upcoming by-election.”
