Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Kogi State has presented the Certificate of Return to the winner of last Saturday Ibaji State Constituency bye-election, Egbunu Atule.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor James Apam presented the certificate of return on Wednesday in Lokoja to Egbunu, the winner of the bye-election.

Apam commended the politicians for their peaceful conduct during the poll, urging them to maintain the tempo.

He charged the winner to use his position as a representative of the people to appeal to the government to improve on the road network for free movement of members of his constituency, and farm produce because he observed that the constituency is an agrarian society.

In his remarks, the winner, Egbunu Atule commended the Commission for a job well done, stressing that all the election materials and personnel arrived at Polling Units on schedule despite the difficult terrain.

He further commended the staff for their good conduct during the election.

He observed that INEC officers were patient in attending to the voters, and were strictly adhering to the guideline on conducting elections during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The APC lawmaker-elect urged the Commission to maintain their performance in his constituency in subsequent elections in the country.
