Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong at the weekend swore in the Management Committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government, Mr. Gideon Dung Davou Dandereng with a charge for him to carry everyone along and be fair to all.
Governor Lalong advised Mr. Dandereng, who is coming onto the job for the second time, to discharge his duties with diligence saying he was chosen for his track record of people oriented service and not because of any godfather.
He said “You should therefore see this appointment as a call to duty and not an appointment to enrich yourself or pursue other selfish interests. Your focus must be on the people always. We expect you to follow all laid down guidelines in the management of resources of the Local Government. Do not allow anyone deceive you that this is your time to accumulate wealth”.
The Governor urged him to carry everyone along and to be fair to people of all the Local Government irrespective of party, religion, ethnicity or any other affiliations and also pay attention to the issue of security which remains the number one priority of this administration. He advised him to be proactive and use all the structures in place to anticipate and address any security threat.
Lalong said there are plans to conduct elections into all the Local Governments once PLASIEC is ready.
However, he said his administration will not allow any breach of peace in the quest for elections, urging all stakeholders to continue to work towards sustainable peace in the State.
Responding, the Management Committee Chairman Mr. Dandereng appreciated the Governor for another opportunity to serve the people, promising to do his best to uphold the trust of the Government. He also pledged to carry everyone along and also work towards generating more revenue that will enable the local Government carry out projects.
