Manchester City and Algeria’s striker Riyad Mahrez has tipped the Super Eagles of Nigeria as one of the teams that will make impression in the qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Mahrez who scored the winning goal against Nigeria in the semifinal of the last African Cup of Nations AFCON in Egypt in 2019 said he has a lot of respect for the Super Eagles.

Mahrez will lead his country against the Nigerians who will be gunning for a revenge in an international friendly match in Austria next week.

“You know the teams in Africa who are not going to be easy to face. Nigeria will always be there and at the last AFCON we had to labour to beat them. As usual they will do well in the qualifiers. I respect them a lot,” Mahrez said.

He said despite the rise of some teams in Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Egypt, Cameroon and Cote d ‘Ivoire are still the force to be reckoned with when it comes to football on the continent.
