Floyd Mayweather has revealed that he intends on working closely with Anthony Joshua ‘real soon, with the two talking
‘All the time’ according to the boxing legend.
Joshua and Mayweather’s relationship has blossomed in recent years and even saw the 44-year-old surprisingly turn up to see the Brit successfully defended his IBF, WBA and WBO belts against Kubrat Pulev in December.
Mayweather even offered Joshua some ringside instructions on his jab to help him overcome the Bulgarian at the SSE Arena.
And now the American – who announced plans to move into coaching last year – looks ready to offer even more wisdom to
Joshua in the coming months, ahead of AJ’s hugely anticipated £200million showdown with Tyson Fury later on this summer.
While it isn’t clear what the pair’s working relationship will be, Mayweather insists that he will be looking to help
Joshua in some form.
Mayweather told Rob Moore on his Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast: ‘Anthony Joshua has a lot of experience, Tyson Fury as
well has a lot of experience.
‘But I think with Anthony Joshua losing a fight, that helped him become stronger.
‘I look forward to working with Anthony Joshua real soon, we communicate all the time, we talk all the time.
‘I’ve met Tyson Fury on a few occasions, great guy, very interesting, after the fight I like to see him sing.
‘I haven’t seen him fight a lot of times, I’ve seen him fight probably only twice. I’ve only seen Tyson Fury fight twice,
against Deontay Wilder.
‘It’s a very intriguing match-up, you can never say what’s going to happen in the sport of boxing.
‘Both guys are great competitors. Like I say, me and Anthony Joshua talk on the regular, so I look forward to working with Anthony Joshua.’
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed to Sportsmail on Monday that all the paperwork for British boxing’s biggest ever clash has been completed, exchanged and signed for two mega-fights, with the first scheduled for this summer.
A date and venue will be finalized in the next three weeks to a month, with late June or early July the prime options for the opening showdown.
