Nigeria Rope Skipping Federation says it is planning to hold MC Oluomo Jump Rope Championship for public Primary and Secondary schools in Lagos in October this year when schools resume for the next academic session.
They made the disclosure when members of the executives presented an International Royal Award for Leadership Excellence (IRALE) and letter as patron of the Federation to Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State which he gladly accepted.
Tagged ‘’Nurturing Future Champions’’,  scribe of the Federation, Sesan Olukoya says the objectives of the timely event are: to serve as a platform to prepare and train youths that would participate in the National Sports Festival and international events in the future; facilitate the empowerment and encourage youngsters with talents to be nurtured toward pursuing a sporting career; promote the spirit of sportsmanship and socialization among the upcoming youths; enhance physical fitness, good personal growth and development among the youths as well as discourage the youths from street life, crime and other social vices.
He further explained that the championship will help create a pool of young players for the Nation; help create a sustainable and replace system; keep the youths/kids fit always; create temporary jobs for the state players acting as school coaches; help develop young judges of the game and also spread the game of Jump Rope/Rope Skipping around the nation.
