DIRECTOR General Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, MCO, Engr Simon Nkom, has said that it would sustain its commitment to the implementation of transparency programs and policies of the Federal Government in cadastre administration in the country while meeting the standards of the Nigeria Extractive Industry and Transparency Initiative, NEITI.
Addressing newsmen who paid a courtesy visit at the agency headquarters in Abuja, EngrNkom noted that the financial and cadastre database has been scrutinized to ensure the integrity of the system adding that such exclusive partnership cannot be ruled out as this will help the society understand the activities of the mining sector.
“We have been working closely with NEITI, and I have the honor to inform you that in terms of openness, the Office has been commended for its transparency and detailed record-keeping practices,” he said. While he expressed optimism that the Agency is well-positioned and prepared to address the challenges of Mineral Title administration, the Director-General explained that apart from migrating to an online system for easy access from any part of the world, the agency is currently migrating to an online cadastre system, a development that will enable applicants to submit applications from any part of the world. He said Zonal Offices have been equipped and ready to start operational activities.
