Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago is a man of diverse parts, a conscientious economist of international repute, sagacious administrator, a farsighted intentional politician with the masses at heart and an astute legislator.
Bago, Born on 22nd February 1974, in Minna, Niger State, is a current Member, House of Representatives, Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger State, Nigeria, from 2011 till date.
He is a progeny of the two historical Royal Families of the Nupe kingdom; his late father, a member of the Masaba Royal Family of Bida, while his late mother, a member of the Jantabo Royal Family of Lapai.
The veteran lawmaker started early to exhume excellent academic performance and after his primary and secondary education at Marafa Primary School, Minna and the Federal Government College, Jos, SSCE, respectively, with flying colours, Bago meritoriously gained admission into the Othman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, where he bagged B.sc degree in Political Science, and Post Graduate Diploma, PDG, from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.
He proceeded to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and later-on to UNICAL, where he bagged MBAs in Economics and in Finance, respectively.
A distinguished Alumnus of Cambridge University, United Kingdom, Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants, FIMC, Hon. Bago is a Certified Management Specialist with Distinction in Time Management from London Graduate School.
With his avalanche degrees in Economics and in Finance, expectedly, Bago finds himself in the Nigerian Banking Industry where he had successful stints with The United Bank for Africa, UBA, Standard Trust Bank, First City Monument Bank, FCMB, as well as the defunct Afribank.
A strong pillar in the cog of the All Progressives Congress, APC, he was a member of the then Congress for Progressives Change, CPC, and a 3rd Consecutive Term Member, House of Representatives, Representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger State, from 2011 till date.
He was a Member, House Committees on  Banking and Currency, Appropriations, Education, Internal Security, Information and Communications Technology, Defense, Loan and Debts, National Planning and Economic Development, Media and Publicity, Civil Societies and Donor Agencies, and on police from 2011 to 2015.
Chairman, House Committee on Maritime Safety, Education and Administration from 2015  2019 and the current
 House Committee Chairman on Cooperation and Integration in Africa from 2019 till date.
Hon. Bago is not only proficient in lawmaking where he had moved over twenty motions and fifteen bills, but he is also relentless in Constituency Projects where he has carried far-reaching Empowerment Programs and developmental projects in his Constituency.
He is happily married to Fatima Larai Mohammed, and they are blessed with three children.
Mr. Empowerment, as he is fondly called by his teeming admirers is a prospective governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general election in Niger State.
