NATIONAL President, National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, Mrs. Gloria Shoda, has inaugurated different committees and ambassadors that will pilot the affairs of the organization for the next three years.

The committees are: sustainable development, general welfare, status of women, social issues, communication, and peace/security & headquarters, with their chairmen.

According to Mrs. Shoda, each committee chairman and members were picked on merit because they are to bring value to the organization, and tell the world what NCWS is all about.

“The national president does not need to be travelling to any state as we have offices in the 36 states including Abuja. The head office only has to coordinate the states, which we are doing.

“As national president, I don’t need to be moving around. The state chapters should work and send in their report for us to act on. Each committee member is posted according to her area of specialization. We check their CVs before we pick anybody.

“We are not political, so we should not be compared to a political party though some of our experts belong to different political parties.

“The new committees are to give women their rightful places in the society. We are sensitizing women to come out and take their rightful places. Nobody is going to give them their right on a platter of gold. I am sure that if they work according to our instructions, they will take over their rightful places.

“There are many committees and sub-committees to take care of different things because NCWS is a very huge organization,” she said.
