Senate President, Ahmed Lawan declared that Nigeria will not turn into a failed nation despite the utterances of dooms-day-prophets.
He made the declaration Saturday while flagging off the 2021 empowerment project to 2,000 beneficiaries of Katsina Central sponsored by Sen. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya.
“Those who were saying that in the present circumstances caused by insecurity, that Nigeria could be best described as a failed nation, approaching a failed nation or may likely end up a failed nation, are missing the point because Nigeria will not and can never be a failed nation.
“Again they forget that when a state of emergency was declared in some part of the north-east during Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria did not turn a failed nation talk more of the present-day”.
He added that it is necessary that all stakeholders should join in the fight with the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to overcome the present challenges facing the nation.
On his part, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State called for collective effort irrespective of party affiliation to build the State and country to a greater height.
He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and appreciate Sen. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya for the laudable projects.
Earlier, Senator Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya noted that, ever since he got elected, he has not slept a day without thinking about proffering solutions to the numerous problems and challenges of his constituents, Katsina Central Senatorial District.
All the social intervention programs that the FG has initiated for the citizens of Nigeria, I have ensured that Katsina Central has been a beneficiary. Even though the spaces are limited, I have carried the people along.
He said during the increased spate of banditry in the state, he co-sponsored two different motions which drew the Federal Government’s attention to the insecurity in the State, noting that the situation is very much better at the moment saying as citizens, let them all be security conscious and assist the government with relevant information to nip any situation in the bud.
