Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr. George Moghalu has enjoined workers of the Organization to face their responsibility with commitment and dedication to improving their efficiency.

Moghalu disclosed this in Lokoja at the NIWA 2020 End of Year Get Together, Sent-Forth and Gift Presentation,  saying that it’s mandatory for every worker to retire either by age or length of service one day and as such they should endeavour to prepare for it.

He said the essence of the get-together is to appreciate the NIWA family, especially for being alive in the year 2020 that has its special challenges which affected all sectors of the economy.

“What we are trying to do is to appreciate our brothers and sisters. Some members served NIWA creditably. We are here to assure those still serving that at the appointed time, they will also be celebrated”, he said.

The Managing Director added further that the management of NIWA was concerned about the staff welfare, assuring them that their welfare will be given priority attention; as he urged them to be more dedicated and committed to work.

The former Chief of Naval Staff and the  Chairman of the Board of Directors, NIWA, Air Vice- Admiral Iko Ibrahim(rtd) urged the staff of the Organization to “be efficient, dedicated, place their job above all and leave a legacy on retirement.

“Retirement is something to look forward to because there is nothing to worry about if you have worked very hard and to guarantee that, we, members of the board identify with you”.

Gifts and awards were given to retired General Managers, staff, Best performing Area Office and Best Staff of the year, 2020.
