Nigeria National League NNL has appealed for sponsorship as it officially kicks off this weekend with 46 teams playing at four zones across the federation.
The Chief Executive Officer CEO, Sajo Mohammed appealed to Corporate organizations like the telecoms, banking, cement and soft drink industries to come to their aid as the NNL does not at the moment has an official sponsor.
Mohammed said: ” It is going to gain for both sponsors and the NNL as their products will be marketed in all the nooks and crannies of the country.”
He disclosed that the NNL is presently in dialogue with Premier Lotto who officially sponsored their AGM in Abakaliki last month.
“We appreciate their efforts and by the grace of God we hope something fruitful will come out of it by the end of the day,” he explained.
Also speaking on the kickoff, the Chief Operating Officer, COO, Emmanuel Adesanya said the league will unofficially kick off on February 13 because of the peculiarity of some states who have about four teams.
He gave an instance of Lagos, Abuja and Zamfara where matches will be spread because they will be using the same pitch hence some hence matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
Adesanya said the NNL has compelled the participating clubs to observe the COVID-19 rules and regulations by providing sanitisers and observing the social distance rule.
“We have asked them to provide ambulances well equipped with oxygen and close by hospitals with good medical facilities,”
He explained that the issue of officiating will also be given utmost attention as the match officials must be up and doing and that any official caught officiating below standard will be banished.
“The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has given us the mandate to come to sanitize the league as only the four best teams will get promotion to the elite class after the Super Eight at the end of the season,” he said
