The Charge d’Affairs of the High Commission of Pakistan, Abuja Mr. Amir Habib Abbasi said the Government of Pakistan through its Engage Africa and Look Africa initiatives is very keen to enhance economic and trade relationships with African countries.

The Pakistani Envoy said this at the virtual signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) with the collaboration of the High Commission of Pakistan, Abuja.

He said the virtual MoU ceremony was arranged in line with the Look Africa and Engage Africa Policy of the Government of Pakistan to enhance bilateral trade and economic relationships with African countries.

He noted that RCCI, after FPCCI, is the only Pakistani Trade Chamber to have a formal MoU with a Nigerian Trade Chamber.

He assured both Chambers that the High Commission of Pakistan, Abuja, and its Commercial Section Lagos will render full support to facilitate the business community of both the countries.

The President, RCCI, Mr. Muhammad Nasir Mirza highlighted the trade potential of Pakistan and stressed the need to enhance Bilateral Trade Relationships between Pakistan and Nigeria.

He welcomed the MoU and assured strong collaboration with LCCI.

He further added that Nigeria as the biggest economy in Africa can play a vital role in enhancing trade opportunities for both sides.

On his part, Director General LCCI, Mr. Muda Yousaf appreciated the interest of Pakistan in enhancing economic ties with Nigeria and welcomed Pakistan’s business community for future joint collaboration.

He added that in the future, the implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA) will unify the whole of Africa into a single market, and Nigeria, as the biggest country in Africa, will be the main hub of trade activities.

He assured full support for future joint collaboration to enhance the bilateral trade relationship between Pakistan and Nigeria.

Both chambers assured future cooperation to enhance trade activities.
