Italian football legend Paolo Rossi was home was burgled while his funeral service was on in native land in Italy last weekend.
He was finally laid to rest in his home country after passing away last week.
The 64-year-old was part of the team that led the European country to the World Cup triumph in 1982 and also won the golden ball and golden boot for the tournament.
However, the death of the two-time Serie A champion with Juventus was greeted with the men of the underworld breaking into his home and carting away some of his valuables during his funeral service on Saturday, December 12.
Rossi’s wife Federica Cappelletti was said to have returned home from the ceremony only to find out that their home in Tuscany had been burgled.
According to BBC quoting Ansa news agency one of the legend’s wristwatches and cash were stolen by the thieves.
The publication added that the family has lodged complaints at the police station and the authorities are already investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the Italians and the entire football world are yet to get over the grief of losing the World Cup hero.
Tributes are also still pouring in from all over the world as people pay their condolences to the family of the icon widely regarded as one of the country’s best-attacking players of all time.
He scored 20 goals in 48 appearances for the Italian national team during a nine-year reign with them. He also won a Coppa Italia title and other UEFA trophies.
