The Christian Association of Nigeria  (CAN), has alleged that political leaders in Nigeria are behind the growing spate of insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the Southern part of the country.
The Chairman of CAN,  Anambra state Chapter Venerable Joseph Nweke who said this while fielding questions from newsmen, also observed that no perpetrator of this dastardly act has been apprehended in Southeast.
He further alleged that political leaders who are supposed to protect the citizens are the ones shielding the killers.
“In the olden days, it was our traditional rulers who harbored the white men who were buying us as slaves, but today it is our political leaders that are protecting those who are killing us, those who are rapping our mothers, those who are rapping our wives, those who are rapping our daughters and the Fulanis who are destroying our farms land. Our political leaders are bringing in people who are causing insecurity in the state.
“They believed in one United Nigeria while they know actually that Nigerian is not United. Who is fooling who? In the educational system, how can you tell me that somebody who scored 300 marks from Anambra state will be taken for unity school with someone in  Zanfara state who scored 10% ?.
“There is no Federal Government presence in the South East. It is done with gross impunity. The enemies who are fighting us are within. These leaders know that the Nigerian civil war has not ended. No single Igbo man is in the security architecture of Nigeria. The insecurity will never stop until we tell ourselves the truth,” he lamented.
Venerable Nweke also noted that he would not trust the recent Ebubeagu security outfits formed by southeast governors, describing it as a child of circumstance which was formed to fight the existing Eastern security Network (ESN).
He further criticized the formation of Ebubeagu security outfit, saying that it was not commissioned by law, unlike “Amotekun” security outfits formed by Southwest governors.
The CAN leader urged southeast governors to stop romancing enemies who do not have their interests at heart and start developing southeast mostly on farms settlement as well emulate the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kulu who never planned to kill any Igbo man.
