The Chairman Transition Committee Ifo Local Government, Hon. Fola Salami has intervened in the crisis between Residents of Iyana Ilogbo Cele community and the staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
Earlier today Hon. Fola Salami was at Iyana Cele community, Ifo where he addressed leaders and youth of the community on the lingering crisis between the youth of the community and officials of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company(IBEDC).
He explained that as a government they can not fold their arms and watch things go wrong.
He said, recently community youths were protesting against poor power supply by the IBEDC. And the peaceful protest which led to the seizure of one of the official vehicles of the power distribution company was led to a process whereby IBEDC mobilized some soldiers to the community albeit protecting their staff.
And after being briefed about the incident, Hon. Salami invited all parties involved on a round table discussion were issues as to how to resolve the crisis were discussed and agreed on.
Not done yet, the Council Boss with his Vice-Chairman Hon. Matanmi led a team to the community to persuade the youth and gave them their words that things would come back to normal.
He stressed the need to always kick against violence while agitating for something from the government.
  “This is your community and your main objective should always be to ensure to be violence-free, no matter what”. Hon Salami stated.
Also, community youth leaders on their part appreciated the quick response of the council boss and promised to maintain peaceful coexistence. While urged Disco company to be awake to their responsibility and desist from bringing unnecessary bills to its customers.
Adding customers are ready to pay for electricity consumed and not of illegal charges which can also lead to future crisis.
