NATIONAL president, Society for Public Health Professional of Nigeria, SPHPN, Professor Michael Asuzu, who was the Professor of Disciplinary Public Health and Community Medicine, College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan, has been honoured on his retirement from public service at an occasion held at International Conference Centre, Abuja over the weekend.
It was a double honour and celebration for the Professor who was the SPHPN founding president, and also an adjunct professor of Disciplinary Public Health and Community Medicine, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, as he marked his 70th birthday.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Dr. Kakale, a member of the House of Representatives from Sokoto State, praised Asuzu for the feet he had achieved, and for excellent and meritorious services he rendered to his fatherland, leading to his peaceful retirement from public service.
While eulogizing Asuzu for a job well done and service rendered to the nation, the SPHPN president, Abuja chapter, Dr. Fakeye, urged all members to emulate the good work of the pioneering president.
Similarly, the President of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria, APHPN, on behalf of all members, congratulated him for his accomplishments and contributions towards the growth and development of the association and wished him long life and prosperity in good health.
While thanking all those who graced the occasion with goodwill message, Asuzu regretted that Nigeria was still lagging behind in terms of so many things, including but not limited to dysfunctional education, health care and dysfunctional partisan politics.
