Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa will undergo surgery this week after he ruptured his Achilles Tendon and will be out for the rest of the season, officials announced.
Iorfa suffered the injury in his team’s 2-1 home loss to Barnsley at the weekend.
“Unfortunately, [Dominic] Iorfa has done his Achilles,” lamented Wednesday manager Tony Pulis.
“I think it is ruptured so he is going to be out for six months, and we won’t see him again this season.”
Pulis praised Iorfa and admitted it is a major blow for ‘The Owls’.
“Dominic has been such a great lad since I’ve come to the club. He has looked like a Roll’s Royce in training,” he remarked.
“It is a massive blow.
“I think he will be having an operation either on Monday or Tuesday.”
Sheffield Wednesday are bottom of the 24-team English Championship with nine points from 18 matches.
