Sir Frank Ibezim, the newly affirmed Senator-elect, Imo North Senatorial District, is a dynamic, farsighted, result-oriented entrepreneur and seasoned technocrat with diverse experience and expertise in areas of education, technology, finance and management, a community leader and an astute politician.
Ibezim, who hails from Ikpe – Nsu in Ehime Mbano is an acclaimed successful strategic planner, consensus builder and decision-maker in the fast-paced corporate and political environment.
He has held top public service positions at state and federal levels including serving as the Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources (2014 – 2015), Special Adviser (Political) to Minister of State for Education (2015 – 2019), Board member, Governing Council, Federal College of Education, Gombe, Member of the Government Committee on Assessment Needs of Unity Schools as well as one – time Managing-Director, Imo Poultry Limited where he was credited with revamping the moribund Avutu Poultry, the largest poultry in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Politically, Sir Frank is a founding member of the APC responsible for the grassroots movement that entrenched the party in Imo State, especially the Okigwe Zone. His deep involvement in the zone’s political terrain has seen him serve as the Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Imo State under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change during the 2007 presidential Campaign. He also aspired to represent Okigwe South Federal Constituency during the 2010/2011 political campaigns, while he was at some point the Director, Contacts and Mobilization of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP.
For Sir Frank Ibezim, the past nine months has been a study in navigating both political and judicial minefields. Perceived as a political greenhorn, his aspiration to contest the December 5th, 2020, Imo North Senatorial Bye-Election pitted him against experienced political juggernauts.
His political opponents were determined to make Ibezim’s journey seem like the valley of the shadow of political death that dogged every step of his aspiration. Right after Ibezim clinched the All Progressive Congress primaries ticket, judicial landmines were strewn along his path.
But, despite the back and front litigations against his candidacy and subsequent counter judgements, his doggedness and genuineness were vindicated, as he was declared the winner of the December bye-election by the 5-man panel of judges of the Supreme Court on April 16th, 2021.
Ibezim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Imo State University (1988) and has demonstrated versatility in Computer Engineering where he earned Comptia A+, a top professional certificate. He equally has varied international working experience as a Fleet Manager, Houston, Texas, and Case Manager, Youth Co-op, a non-profit organization based in Miami, Florida, working with the US government on youth reintegration programmes designed to rehabilitate, and train youths with special challenges.
A community leader per excellence, Sir Frank Ibezim has actively participated in numerous community/church development projects including the construction of community roads and personally sponsored the installation of street lights in his community.
He believes that his aspiration to represent the good people of Okigwe Zone in the 9th Senate is about quality representation. “My vision and mission remain to provide competent and compassionate leadership, and to sustain continuity in quality representation, surpassing the democratic dividends ever enjoyed in the state.
