COMMISSIONER of Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan, has disclosed that the military has neutralized armed bandits on the Kaduna-Abuja and Kaduna-Zaria roads in the early hours of Sunday, November 29 and early hours of Monday, November 30, 2020, killing many bandits during the encounter.
Aruwan, who gave details of the encounter in a statement yesterday, said that at Kwanar Tsintsiya axis of Kaduna-Zaria road, Igabi Local Government, troops of 4 Battalion Nigerian Army overpowered the armed bandits that were shooting at motorists plying the route, neutralizing one of the bandits while several escaped with bullet wounds.
He revealed that the troops had also rescued 39 persons traveling to Onitsha (Anambra State) from Sokoto State from the armed bandits while still trailing them to areas said to be their enclave.
The commissioner also explained that the troops had responded to distress calls about bandits attacking and rustling in the same general area recovering 69 cattle and neutralizing one of the armed bandits on arriving at the location.
“Pictures of the bandits neutralized, rescued citizens and recovered cattle are attached,” he said.
Also on the Kaduna-Abuja road, he stated that bandits, who were advancing towards the Audu-Jungom axis in Chikun Local Government Area on Sunday, November 29, 2020, were repelled by troops, and in pursuit of the bandits to Ungwan Tuta, the troops lost contact with the bandits, denying them freedom of action as they could not carry out their nefarious act.
“In the early hours of today Monday, 30th November 2020, troops successfully dislodged armed bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja road,” he added.
He, however, stated that a stray bullet fired by the criminals hit a driver and passenger.
