Elder Statesman and Chairman of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Edwin Clark has warned the Niger Delta Minister, Godswill Akpabio to stop meddling in the affairs of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Clark who gave this warning on Wednesday when he received the NDDC Interim Administrator, Effiong Okon, at his residence in Abuja, said the major problem with the NDDC is the constant interference by Akpabio.
While urging the Federal Government to make special funds available for the East-West road which started under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, the PANDEF Chairman noted that “there is no provision in the NDDC budget for the completion of the East-West road”.
In his response, Okon who was recently appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in December last year, urged the youths protesting his appointment to allow peace reign for the benefit of the region.
It would be recalled that Buhari had appointed Okon after sacking the Interim Management Committee, IMC, led by Kemebradikumo Pondei, following corruption allegations levelled against it which was indicted by the Senate for allegedly mismanaging N4billion, and another squandering of N81.5billion.
