Two brothers suspected of homosexuality in the Idogbo community, Ikpoba-Okha Local  Government Area LGA of Edo state,  escaped their sudden deaths at the hands of angry mobs.
The two siblings  Alex and Joseph Okoro 28 and 23 respectively, were connected with sexual relationship allegations with one Mr. Osagie Williams, currently in police custody.
Reliable community sources who chose anonymity for security reasons informed newsmen that, though the police leveled a rape charge against the suspects, their claim was rather unsubstantiated.
The anonymous community sources further maintained that some youths of the community in connivance with one Chief of the community took the laws into their hands by beating the two brothers to the state of unconsciousness, about to lunch them, when the police intervened.
“The Police had to fire live bullets and tear gas before they could disperse the angry mob.  It was in the whole confusion that the Okoro brothers found a way to escape”, the source said.
However, it is learned that the mother of the two suspects Mrs. Okoro,  had been banished from the community, and attempts to locate or speak with her failed. She is said to have lost her phones to the hoodlums, who forcefully ejected her from the community.
The Nigerian Police Force,  Edo state command on the other hand has refused our correspondent’s request to speak with the suspect in their custody or issue an official statement regarding the incident.
The Force Public Relations Officer P.R.O,  Deputy Superintendent of Police D.S.P Francis Ogunyinka, explained that a press briefing, was being arranged by the Force,  in the regard, but none had been forthcoming, as at press time.
The case is currently being investigated by the Edo state police command.
