The leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aspirant for the coming Anambra State Governorship election, Dr Ifedi Okwenna has decried the increasing rural/urban migration, urban poverty, decreasing affordable housing, and lowering the standard of living in the State, saying that these are trademark of Obiano’s administration.
He said that increasing migration of youths from across the State to Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi is exerting a lot of pressure on the limited infrastructure in the cities.
Dr Okwenna stated this at meeting with selected Njikoka Local Government youths and Stakeholders held in Abagana.
He noted that the incoming PDP Government will propel innovation and entrepreneurship through planned support and implementation of creative ideas that will generate value and increase revenue at affordable costs.
The PDP Aspirant said he will exploit the innate abilities of Anambra youths and guide them to innovate, massively generate employment and create wealth for themselves and for the state.
The former Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology condemned in strong terms, the age-long linear development of the communities in Njikoka Local government and the inability of Government to build internal roads to connect the contiguous communities to make for easy networking and effective traffic management.
Announcing his aspiration to govern Anambra state to his supporters in the area, Dr Okwenna said his 5 core objectives and 26 innovative plans for Transformation of Anambra State will reverse the ugly trend.
He informed the youths of his intention to make Njikoka, the hub for his proposed, state-of-the-art Tech Hub campus.
“The Tech Hub will contain an innovation centre, e-business centre, global solution centre, and global e-support centre.
“The package will also include developing
a. A digital-technology curriculum that is recognized globally which will provide participants with valuable skills and accreditation and
b. Commence Foundational training to Anambra State Youths (200,000 citizens over a 4-year period) that will boost their short- and long-term capabilities to attract more employers. This according to him will also provide them with better jobs, attract new investors and like-minded innovators to their localities to create a virtuous circle of prosperity”.
Dr Okwenna informed the youths that through this, the Local Government and indeed most part of the State will benefit from complementary infrastructure upgrade which includes enhanced internet access, improved power systems, and advanced technology laboratories as his government will in partnership with the private sector acquire internet broadband network that will serve the State and enhance smooth delivery of ICT facilities in the State, creating in the process the State-owned subscription-based MINI and NANO sims for creation of cheap, efficient and accessible MIFI internet model for the State.
On his part, a youth activist, Hycenth Egwudike, commended Dr Okwenna for his preparedness to take the mantle of governance of the State.
“You’re the only Aspirant who has the experience and has shown a thorough understanding of the challenges of this State and has mapped out the ingenious and innovative plans to solving them,”
While promising to give him maximum support, he called on the youth of Anambra State
to adopt Dr Ifedi Okwenna
as their candidate, work for his emergence at the PDP primaries and his winning of the November 6, Governorship elections in the State.
