The Deputy Registrar, Media, and publicity, Gregory University Uturu, Abia state, Chief Sleek Ogbonnaya Ogwo have said that World Igbo Summit started a few years ago has laid down a blueprint evolving a 50-year development plan for the Igbo nation.
Chief Ogwo who is a member of the local organizing committee for the 6th World Igbo Summit slated for this weekend at Gregory University Uturu while reacting to questions from Journalists during a press briefing.
He noted that the World Igbo Summit was conceived as a rallying point to harness aggregate views of Ndigbo from diverse backgrounds for future work plan of the race.
Ogwo further revealed that the summit is geared towards the promotion of things the Igbo nation is expected to do to arrive at eldorado noting that it has made a tremendous impact so far in that this platform has been able to hold so many views of Igbo people together.
The experienced media practitioner disclosed that we are at the 6th edition of the World Igbo Summit, building on it, and preaching the concept of “Aku ruo ulo” meaning investing at the home front for our Igbo people especially those in the diaspora with the Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Gregory iyke Ibe as a typical example of who invested all his businesses at his Uturu country home and within the South East region.
Speaking during the press briefing, Dr. Romanus Umeh, the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the 6th edition of World Igbo Summit said that the theme of this year’s summit: Enduring future for Ndigbo which he said is striving for an enduring better future for the Igbo nation, especially ahead of 2023 election.
He noted that the expectations and challenges will x-ray the historic and contemporary realities in Nigeria, the impact of the Covid19 pandemic, END SARS phenomenon, and it’s resetting agenda on the socio Economic and Political landscape of Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that the Igbo have an opportunity in this summit to harmonize their views and gain a sharper perspective on the trending issue of Igbo presidency, which is the other way of calling for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.
The highpoint of the summit will be the Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy to the outgoing President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Nnia Nwodo by the Senate approval of Gregory University, Uturu, Abia state in view of his outstanding contributions in defense of Igbo cause and course.
This will be heralded with a special convocation ceremony towards this epic event
