The latest of the All People’s Congress, APC Speakership aspirant for the House of Representatives’ 10th Assembly to formally unveil his manifesto, Rep Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has said Nigeria’s survival and growth on the coming years depend largely on the ability of her leaders to positively change the narrative of conducting government business.

The Speakership aspirant representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Plateau State said moving from the business as usual style of governance to one that will meet the high expectations of the people should rightly start from the Legislature and that now was the time to effect such change.

“Twenty four years since the return to democratic rule is enough time for the despair and disappointment characterized by unfulfilled expectations and promises should stop and shift to the positive.

“The different arms of government has not lived up to citizen’s high hopes in delivering dividends of democracy and righting this wrong will feature high on the 10th House of Representatives Legislative agenda if given the chance to be Speaker.

“Parliament has failed in its role of Oversight Function and this is a key area of the 10th House under my Speakership. If developmental projects are properly supervised as should be, then their glaring failure, contributing to underdevelopment in the country would not be so glaring.

Rep Gagdi then spoke of plans to open a website on oversight function where the various constituencies and constituents can have access to progress on projects and how much was expended so far, so that those responsible for implementation could be held responsible.

He hinged his manifesto christened ‘One Nation: Forward Together’ on a two-prong approach of Internal Reform and Collaborating with the Private Sector in moving Legislative functions forward.

Rep Gagdi submitted that in the spirit of Justice, Equity and Fairness which has guided the ruling party and the country in political considerations in the past, the APC zoning arrangement should give the North Central the opportunity to produce the next Speaker since the zone had not been considered in the past.

He promised that if given the opportunity, the President-elect Bola Amed Tinubu could be rest assured of a strong ally in the Legislative arm of government in driving forward the affairs of the State.

Support groups from diverse walks of Life in their solidarity speeches lauded the aspirant’s experience, competence and sense of purpose in achieving what he sets out to do.
