The Katsina State Government has disclosed its plan to create a Ministry of Internal Security.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda disclosed this at the Government House on Sunday explained that the proposed Ministry will be responsible for all issues of internal security.

He appealed to the people to cooperate and support his administration, saying his government will not relent in proffering a lasting solution to Katsina’s security challenges.

The Governor further emphasised that the planned Executive Order to restrict the movement of commercial motorcycles and tricycles also known as KEKE NAPEPs in the State, is not in any way intended to victimise anybody, but to check banditry in Katsina.

Government, he said, would recruit more young men from the frontline Local Government areas facing security challenges, to support security personnel in their areas as armed vigilantes.

This, he said, was in realisation of inadequate numbers of security officers and men operating in the state.

He called on all Katsina citizens to report the presence and movement of criminals and their informants in their localities.
