In an effort to bridge the burgeoning housing deficit in the country, a real estate company, Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Limited, has conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for affordable shelter for low-income Nigerians.
Various Nigerian cities are dotted with shanties and unplanned housing scheme, even as records indicate that the most populous African nation is far from achieving sufficient shelter for its over 200 million population.
According to Dataphyte, a media, research and data analytics organisation, Nigeria’s housing deficit grew by 300 percent from 7million in 1991 to 28million in 2023.
At the groundbreaking ceremony of Hill City Community housing project situated at Lugbe, Abuja, the nation’s capital, the chairman of Zoe New Dawn, Engr. Stephen Achama stated that the project will offer prospective subscribers global standard residential assets that will guarantee a live, work and play benefits in a well-developed, highly urbanised district of the Federal Capital Territory.

It will equally offer subscribers the advantage of building by themselves, if they choose to, while complete and standardised infrastructure such as central sewage system, water system, inner roads, parking, security and other facilities will be provided by the facility owners.
