The Orhionmwon Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Newman Ugiagbe on Wednesday held an extensive meeting with top traditional leaders, all the heads of security architectures, the local vigilante and religious leaders in Orhionmwon to fashion out the best method to adopt in proffering the last solution to issues of insecurity in the area.

The monthly security meeting held at the Council’s Conference Hall of Orhionmwon Local Government Council’s Secretariat touched on areas and modalities to be adopted at boosting the security conditions in the area. The interactive engagement availed the relevant authorities opportunity to review the month’s activities, know areas to improve and project for the preceding month.

Hon. Ugiagbe emphasized the need for a closer working relationship between the security operatives and the traditional leaders, saying without the collaborative efforts of the leaders of their host communities, they might encounter difficulties carrying out their operation. The council Boss also called on the traditional leaders and other community heads to cooperate with the security operatives in giving necessary information to the relevant authorities that will improve the security situation of the area.

The Council Boss however frowned at the reckless and bizarre manners some cattle herders operate in the area, he therefore instructed the heads of the Hausa community and the cattle owners that all grazing activities should henceforth end by 6pm. Saying the act of seeing herdsmen still escorting their animals at midnight is totally forbidden and should not be heard of again in Orhionmwon.

In his words, the newly elected ALGON National Organizing Secretary said, “I want to commend everyone for turning up for the all important meeting today; truly I am impressed with the numbers. It truly showed how concerned we want the continued peace and security in our beloved local government; we must not relent in contributing our own quota in the security of lives and properties in our locality. The monthly security meeting is an avenue for the stakeholders to brainstorm on the best practice to adopt in flushing out bad elements from our midst.”

Emphasizing the desire for improved community policing, Honourable Ugiagbe called on the Edo State Security Network personnel in the locality to desist from playing politics with the lives of Orhionmwon people, saying they must rededicate their unalloyed commitment towards improving the security architectures. “I’ll do my own part in giving the necessary support and logistics”.
