In a significant political development, former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside other prominent political figures in the Akoko Edo axis of the state. This move is seen as a major blow to the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his ally, Asue Ighodalo, as it strengthens the APC’s position in the region.

The defection ceremony, which took place in Abuja, was attended by notable APC leaders, including Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Comrade Peter Akpatason, and Chief Christopher Dirisu. The event marks a significant shift in political dynamics in Edo State, as Adjoto and his allies are expected to mobilize support for the APC in the upcoming governorship election.

Adjoto, known for his political savvy and grassroots appeal, is set to deliver Ward 6 and other areas to the APC. Similarly, retired Comptroller Segun Oga is expected to leverage his connections to secure Ward 9 for the party. Business mogul Charles Adebayo, who has a strong following in the Erhurun Uneme Community, is also expected to play a key role in the APC’s campaign.

The development has sent a clear message that the APC is poised to take control of Edo State, with Senator Monday Okpebholo emerging as a strong contender for the governorship seat. Political observers believe that Okpebholo’s leadership will build on the development strides of Adams Oshiomhole and introduce new programs that will benefit the average citizen.

As the political intrigue continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the stage is set for a fierce battle in the Edo State governorship election, and the outcome will have significant implications for the state’s future.
