In a collaborative effort between the Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research Nigeria (CCCRN) and the Bayelsa State Ministry of Women, Children Affairs Empowerment and Social Development, a strategic plan is in progress to elevate service provision for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Bayelsa State.

During a 2-day workshop, in Yenagoa several stakeholders, led by Ms. Dumatein Ekinabhowi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, focused on identifying key challenges faced by OVC.

The plan aims to address these challenges comprehensively, emphasizing clear goals and strategies to enhance the well-being of OVC.

Mr. Moses Olley, the State Project Manager of CCCRN, highlighted the organization’s contributions to HIV epidemic control, economic empowerment, and addressing gender-based violence.

Lady Eunice Nnachi, CEO of Women Organized for Mentorship and Advocacy Network (WOMAN), emphasized the critical need for improved regulation of OVC care institutions to ensure child protection and advocated for enhanced socio-economic security, access to healthcare and education, and increased awareness of OVC rights and responsibilities.
