Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said that his administration applied mathematical formulae to address the hydra-headed ethnic and security challenges he inherited in the State.

The governor disclosed this while speaking at a symposium organised to assess his seven years administration by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council on Thursday in Lokoja.

The Symposium themed: “A Peep into Yahaya Bello’s Seven Years as Governor of Kogi State and the Implications for Future Administrations”, was effectively presented by the Guest Speaker, Mr Emmanuel Ojonugwa Okoliko of Open University of Nigeria, Abuja.

Bello noted that his government has so far, conquered seeming insurmountable ethnic and security challenges in the state saying, “So far so good, we came, we saw and we are conquering.

“When I was in my Primary, Secondary and University days, I was a good mathematics student. I like mathematics so much and my sister of blessed memory, Hajia Rabi, taught me mathematics.

“In mathematics when you want to solve any problem whatsoever, just learn how to derive the formula. Once you can derive the formula, you can solve any problem.

“When we came to Kogi State we saw the problem and we tried as much as possible to derive a formula and without making noise, we applied the formula we derived, hence the various achievements you have seen so far.

On the forthcoming General Elections, Governor Bello called on politicians and the electorate to play by the rules and urged Nigerians not to despair or allow the present hardship to dissuade them.

“Elections will hold. Thank God Mister President in his broadcast today assured Nigerians that there will be election and every Nigerian will be secured.

“It is normal that when end time of an administration or an era comes, we should have this kind of little skirmishes.

“But let us not blow it out of proportion. We should remain calm, we should remain resolute as a people and ensure that we go into this election. The situation is just temporary. A few days and few weeks to come, situations will stabilize.

Discussants at the symposium include Prof. Marietu Tenuche of Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba; Prof. salawu Sadiku of Confluence University of Science and Technical (CUSTECH), Osara and Dr Solomon Anyegwu, Provost, Kogi State College of Health, Idah.

Others are Hon. Idris Asiru Asiwaju, Commissioner for Finance and Retired CMR Jerry Omodara, State Security Adviser.
