Kogi Governorship Primaries: Braimoh picks Action Alliance Ticket, promises to address poverty

An Estate Developer and Entrepreneur, Olayinka Braimoh has won the Action Alliance (AA) governorship primary election for the November 11, Gubernatorial Election in Kogi State.

Mr James Benebe Ukwenya, Chairman of Kogi State Electoral Committee of the party who announced the results of the Primary election at Reverton Hotel Lokoja, said Braimoh polled 101 votes to clinch the ticket.

Ukwenya said that the closest contestant to Braimoh was Mr Simon Ogwu who managed to acore four (4) votes.

He added that one of the Aspirants, Haruna Adah Sylvester had earlier stepped down for Braimoh, in respect for his outstanding leadership qualities.

The Electoral Committee Chairman held that the Election was free, fair and credible adding that it was monitored my security agents and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Shortly after, Braimoh in his acceptance Speech, expressed gratitude to God for the outcome of the election, national and State leaderships of the party as well as supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

He assured that he would not disappoint them saying that his emergence was divine and marked the beginning of a journey into wealth creation and distribution to address issues of poverty among the people.

“My victory is the beginning of a journey to wealth creation and adequate attention to the welfare of the people of Kogi.

“Our principal goal in wealth creation is food sufficiency”, he said, adding that in Kogi state with a population of about 4.4 million, the average cost of food per person per day is N500.

“This means that we spend about N2.2 million everyday on food and about N5.5 billion every month. How much of this money stays within our state?, he queried.

He said that his administration if elected, would focus on production and service and attract inflow into the economy through major sectors like agriculture.

Braimoh from Akutupa-Kiri in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi said that his administration would also be biased in favour of Education, Health, Tourism, General Trade and Infrastructure.
