The Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Senators Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibrin for emerging as President and Deputy President of the Senate.

Akpabio and Jibrin were elected as presiding officers of the 10th Senate, during the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, NASS, yesterday.

Radda, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, also felicitated with Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who emerged as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

Radda, lauded the transparent and peaceful manner the elections of the presiding officers of the 10th NASS was conducted.

According to Governor Radda, both the 10th Senate and House of Representatives are lucky to have seasoned lawmakers at the helms of their affairs.

He expressed confidence that the 10th NASS, under the leadership of Senator Akpabio and Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, will raise the bar of legislative governance, while robustly checkmating the excesses of the executive arm of government.

“The election of Senators Akpabio and Jibrin, together with Rt. Honourable Abbas and Kalu have ushered in a new dawn for the Nigerian federal parliament. And the National Assembly, indeed, will never be the same again under their stewardship.

“They are going to justify the confidence their colleagues have reposed on them, I have no doubt. The new Senate President and Speaker are eminently qualified for the jobs they asked for, and which they have gotten. That they will deliver, is what I have never doubted,” he noted.

In a related development, Governor Radda, has joined the teeming supporters and associates of the three Katsina Senators and fifteen House of Representatives members, who were also inaugurated at the National Assembly, on Tuesday, to rejoice with them.

He urged them to put Katsina’s interest first in their minds, and strive to remain good ambassadors of the State, as they settle down to discharge their legislative duties.
