Group commends Akpabio over Okonkwo’s appointment as Chief of Staff

Former Independent Campaign Group for Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abass for 10th Senate Presidency, House Speakership bid known as Leadership Support Centre, has praised the President of the Senate, for appointing Sylvester Okonkwo as his Chief of Staff.

The Senate President had in his first appointments announced on Monday named Okonkwo and Saviour Enyiekere as Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff, respectively.

The group, in a release signed by Anderson Achilike praised the Senate President Akpabio, saying that he made the right decision.

Achilike said Okonkwo with his wealth of experience will, as Chief of Staff, lead and oversee all legislative, policy, communications, and constituent service strategies for his principal and Chairman of the National Assembly.

He expressed optimism that Okonkwo will develop and implement all policy objectives, strategies, and operating plans for the Senate President for the betterment of the Parliament and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement reads: “The Senate President is in good hands. Chief Barrister Sylvester Okonkwo will definitely carryout his duties effectively. Okonkwo attended Dennìs Memorial Grammar School Onitsha and he is also an alumni of the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus where he bagged a Bachelor Degree in Law. (LL.B. Hons. B.L). He hails from Ojoto in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, South East region of Nigeria. He is a corporate lawyer and an astute politician spanning more than two decades.

“He was a senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2019. Until his appointment, Okonkwo was the CEO of Chinto Technologies Limited, an ICT and telecommunications outfit.”
