Abdulganiyu Lawal Abubakar is a young Kogis state born photographer that uses photography to express his inner thoughts and aspirations.
In this interview with Nigerian Pilot, Abdulganiyu tells us about his passion for the job, as he says every click of the camera is a chance to create something unique, meaningful and charming.
What has been your experience as a photographer?
My journey as a photographer has been an incredibly fascinating one, filled with memorable encounters with extraordinary and delightful individuals. Working with prominent figures from various industries has been an incredible privilege, including the likes of Regina Daniel, Joeboy, ObioJulius, Tonto Dikeh, Teni, Obi Cubana, Buju, and many others. Capturing moments behind the camera and immersing myself in the field has been an absolute joy, as it allows me to constantly learn, unlearn, and relearn in the most creative and inspiring manner possible. Each day brings new insights and experiences that fuel my passion for photography even more.
Tell us about your passion for the profession?
My passion for photography runs deep. It’s more than just a hobby or a profession for me; it’s a way of expressing myself and capturing the beauty and essence of the world around me. Through photography, I can freeze moments in time and tell stories that words sometimes fail to convey. It allows me to connect with people and places on a deeper level, and every click of the camera is a chance to create something unique and meaningful. I find joy in exploring new perspectives, playing with light and composition, and seeing the world through a creative lens. Photography is not just about taking pictures; it’s about preserving emotions, memories, and experiences that will last a lifetime. It’s a journey of continuous learning and growth, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found my passion in this art form.

Professionally, this is my 2nd year. I have spent 3 years learning and interning for other photographers

To me personally the photography profession is rich and diverse, offering numerous interesting aspects that appeal to both amateurs and professionals alike. some of the most captivating aspects of the photography profession to me are

Technical Proficiency: Photography involves understanding camera equipment, lenses, exposure settings, and post-processing techniques. Mastering these technical aspects can be challenging, but it offers a sense of accomplishment and opens up a world of creative possibilities.
Continuous Learning: Photography is a field that continually evolves due to advancements in technology and techniques. There’s always something new to learn, from mastering new camera gear to staying updated on editing software and post-processing trends.
Versatility: Photography spans various genres, including portrait, landscape, wildlife, macro, architectural, fashion, documentary, and more. Photographers can specialize in one area or explore multiple genres, keeping the profession fresh and exciting.
Interaction with People: Portrait and wedding photographers, in particular, get to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, capturing their personalities and emotions through photographs.
Recognition and Impact: Photographers who produce exceptional work can gain recognition and have a positive impact on others. Their images can evoke emotions, raise awareness, inspire change, and even influence public opinion.

Basically, everything that surrounds me. Most of the time it’s related to the people I work with, what’s happening at the moment, It also depends on where I am.
