Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that the use of technology would be deployed as against heavy reliance on human element in protection of the nation’s borders also assuring to remove bottlenecks in processing of Passports.

Tunji-Ojo stated this yesterday in Abuja while meeting with Press Corps of the Ministry yesterday as part of events for his assumption of duty.

He also charged Management Staff and Heads of agencies under the supervision of the Ministry to work hard and produce results.

The Minister warned that the performance must be best to produce results, adding that he would hold Directors and heads of agencies responsible.

He said the Ministry of Interior affects the lives of every Nigerian, therefore the Ministry cannot afford to fail in its mandates, Nigerians must sleep with their two eyes closed.

He implored Ministry’s functionaries to brase up and roll their sleeves for work, he reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu warned that he would be responsible for any failure in his ministry, as such he warned the Directors and Heads of agencies responsible for any failure from their subordinates.

He urged that the Ministry must be aligned and deliver on the renewed hope agenda of the President’s policy thrust.

Hon. Tunji-Ojo, urged the Press Corps of the Ministry to cooperate with him, as an important stakeholder in the delivery of the mandates, which he assured the collaboration would be interactive in a friendly atmosphere.

The Permanent Secretary Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade welcome the Minister and pledged absolute support and loyalty of the management and staff for him to succeed on his mandates.

However, Akinlade passionately implored Members of the Ministry’s Press Corps for understanding in their coverage of the Ministry’s assignments for the common good of all.
