2-day to election judgment, Tinubu meets with Service Chiefs, departs for India

President Bola Tinubu, Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja met behind closed doors with the service chiefs, the National Security Adviser and, and the Inspector General of Police, two days before the delivery of the judgment on the Presidential Election Petition in the tribunal challenging his emergence by the opposition parties.

Shortly after the meeting, the President proceeded on his trip to India to attend the G-20 Summit and will not be in Nigeria when the court will announce the judgment.

Though, The meeting, which is a routine at the State House, had in attendance the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, his Navy counterpart, Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar.

The meeting which held behind closed doors, at Aso Rock usually feeds the President on the general security situation in the country, including a review of areas where they (service chiefs) need to double up efforts to close gaps.

At the end of the meeting, State House correspondents were not briefed and none of the service chiefs agreed to speak to journalists.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has announced Wednesday, September 6 as a definite date for judgment delivery in the three petitions challenging the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari said everything has been put in place to ensure hitch-free delivery of the judgment in the three petitions filed by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku; Peter Obi in the Labour Party; and that of Allied People Movement APM.

The court, however, assured that adequate security has been put in place to avoid congestion and security breaches.
