GOVERNOR Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has said that the efforts of his administration in combating crime in the state have started yielding tremendous results with the recent recovery of 53 transformers stolen from the state as evidence.

Ododo disclosed this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Lokoja.

The Governor commended security agencies operating in the state for being steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities at all times saying that the security situation of the state was commendable.

The Governor cited the recent interception and recovery of 53 electrical transformers meant for electrification projects in different parts of the state and the subsequent arrest of the gang of criminals responsible for the act as an indication of improvement in the fight against crime in the state.

The statement said that the electrical transformers were stolen from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility in the state by the gang of criminals who were arrested in Obajana on their way to Lagos State.

The statement further said the 53 electrical transformers which were recovered and kept at an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) facility in the state might have stalled the installation of the transformers in different communities in the state earlier in the year.

The alleged gang of criminals, the statement added, volunteered useful information that led to the arrest of a fleeing member of the gang in Ilorin, Kwara State and the alleged receiver of the transformers in Lagos state respectively.

Governor Ododo used the occasion to further restate his determination to stamp out crime and criminality in the state and assured security agencies of maximum support by the state government.

This, he said, would ensure the security of lives and property in all parts of Kogi state.
