Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested no fewer than one hundred and twenty three suspected cultists of different groups.
The Police Spokesman of the Command, SP Childi Nwabuzor who spoke to Journalists in Benin City on Wednesday, confirmed that many of the Suspects were arrested in their hideouts at different locations in the state adding that the police acted on intelligence gathering to ensure a huge success.
SP Childi Nwabuzor further said that one of the Suspects was arrested by an Officer of the Evbotubu Police division following an intelligence gathering, disclosing that the EDO State Police have arraigned in court many of the Suspects as a suspected Cultist, Endurance Otansowe with a gun in Benin City.
He said that the divisional Police Officer in Charge of Evbotubu Police division received information about Cult activities in the area, resulting in stop and search duty within Lucino Hotel, Ogbiyoko, Ekemwan road, Benin City adding that during the Operation, the Police accosted and arrested the Suspects confirmed having illegal weapon.
SP Childi Nwabuzor further disclosed that all the Suspects arrested were being investigated, adding that they will be charged to court on Completion of investigation, and warned that it will no longer be business as usual in all forms of Criminal activities in the state.
