AFCON 2023 qualifier: Guinea Bissau to play Nigeria in Senegal

By Asuelimen Osasuyi

Guinea Bissau will kick-off their 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Senegal.

The Super Eagles Group A opponent have chosen Senegal as venue for their home game during the qualifiers series.

The 2023 AFCON draws which were conducted earlier in the month put Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Sao Tome in the same Group A.

According to the report coming from the Senegalese Football Association, Guinea Bissau is among the federation that has approached them for the usage of the newly constructed Le Stade Abdoulaye Wade de Diamniadio Stadium.

African football governing body a few days ago gave the qualified countries April 29 as the deadline to pick the venues for their home games.

National Stadium in Guinea Bissau is among the venue that failed to meet CAF approval during the last inspection and they needed to seek the alternative before the ultimatum. Gambia and Liberia are two other federations speaking to Senegal to use their stadium as their home ground.
