IDPs: Humanitarian Ministry receives donation of 50 Tonnes of Dates from Saudi Arabia

In a collaborative effort to aid Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs across Nigeria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitated the transfer of 50 tonnes of dates donated by the Saudi Arabia Embassy to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, where His Excellency, Ambassador Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa, Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, presented the donation to Abel Enitan, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

In a statement signed by Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Rhoda Ishaku Iliya explained that during the event, Ambassador Lamuwa emphasized the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, extending beyond mere donations to encompass political and business engagements.

He expressed gratitude to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia for the generous gesture.

In response, Permanent Secretary Abel Enitan conveyed appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for the seamless facilitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He assured proper distribution of the dates to ensure that beneficiaries, both within and outside IDP camps, receive the assistance they require.

Among the dignitaries present were Ezulu Valentine, Director of Humanitarian Affairs, management staff of the Humanitarian Ministry, as well as ambassadors and personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
