The current Minister of Federal Capital Territory FCT Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has appealed to the Anglican Diocesis in Rivers State to pray for peace in Nigeria.

Chief Wike also pleaded with the clergy and laity to pray for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ashwaju Ahmed BolaTinubu, that he may fulfill all his promises to Nigeria and Rivers State in particular.

He made the appeal yesterday at the Trinity Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, during a Thanksgiving service by the Rivers State Care Taker Committee CTC Chairman of the All Progressives’ Congress APC, Chief Tony C. Okocha.

The Minister also used the occasion to donated the sum of #20. m to the church, for the completion of its on-going projects, assuring that the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, would also participate in financial support of the project.

“We will not be tired of supporting the growth and development of God’s vine yard, because, He (God) is never tired of blessing, providing for and protecting us”, he declared.

In his speech the chief celebrant and the APC chairman Chief Okocha, vouched he cannot thank God enough, but only came to God’s presence to appreciate Him, for uncountable blessings and favours upon him and entire family.

The Rivers Representative in the NDDC’s board noted that he came to thank God, for his appointment as the Rivers NDDC’s Representative, Chairman Care Taker Committee Rivers State Chapter of APC and his wife’s birthday, Mrs Clarett Ogechi Okocha. He stated he lacked enough words with which to express his gratitude to the Almighty God.

“To say we are immensely grateful to the Almighty of God, for his surpassing Grace in our lives is an under understatement. Appointments in the board of NDDC’ Governing Board and the Chairman Care Taker Committee of APC Rivers, that we celebrate today are anilliaries and by products of God’s grace.

In his sermon, the officiating clergyman, the Bishop, Diocesis of Niger Delta North, Rt Revd Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, urged politicians and leaders to serve their nation selflessly, and with full dedication.

“At what ever position you find yourself, do your job diligently, for there were others more qualified for the position than you, but God in His infinite mercy gave you the opportunity.
Resist any pressure or distraction capable of leading you to sin.”

Present to celebrate with Chief Okocha and family were politicians, traditional rulers, captains of industries from far and near, among other groups.
